Surprise reunion at HMS Raleigh

A Royal Navy recruit had the surprise of his life when his mum turned up for his passing-out parade, after a fellow trainee paid for her flight from the Caribbean.

Recruit Quaci Crosby had no idea his mum, Althea, would be there - and it's all thanks to the kindness of his classmate Recruit Cameron Hawes.

Honours and awards 

Some of the most prestigious honours our personnel can receive will be presented to them by the Queen following her New Year or birthday honours lists, from MBEs to knighthoods. Others come as medals or prizes, marking significant achievements in the line of duty.
