RM Band Portsmouth’s role

RM Band Portsmouth have been known as ‘The Royal Band’ since 1903, when King Edward VII appointed them the Royal Yacht Band – and these versatile and talented musicians more than live up to their regal moniker.

As one of the oldest of the five bands that make up the Royal Marines Band Service, the members of RM Band Portsmouth have provided music at some truly iconic events, including the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance, the Edinburgh Military Tattoo, the Mountbatten Festival of Music and the Queen Mother’s funeral in 2002.
