HMS Calliope (Tyneside)

Home to over 100 Royal Naval Reserves, the unit recruits right across the North East of England - from the Scottish Borders to the River Tees.

The units long association with Tyneside was formally recognised in 1985 when HMS Calliope was awarded the Roll of Honorary Freeman of the City of Newcastle.

Commanding Officer

Commander Graeme Deighton

Born in 1967, Commander Graeme Deighton joined the Royal Navy as a Junior Air Engineering Mechanic in 1984. In 2001 in joined the Maritime Reserves as a Logistics Rating. In 2018 he was promoted to Commander.
