SERVED ONCE, SERVE AGAIN

Many people leave the Armed Forces at various times of their lives and for a variety of different reasons. But now, there are good opportunities to re-join the Naval Service and enjoy a fulfilling second career.

The training, knowledge, skills and experience you gained whilst serving in the Navy is recognised as unique and because we're always looking for the best and most qualified individuals to fill our roles, your existing skills and expertise will be hard to look past.

WHO CAN REJOIN?

We are looking for all branches and specialisations, in particular Submariners, Engineers and Catering Services. This includes Officers and Ratings, as long as you have previous service.

REJOINERS JOURNEY

Although the process is relatively straight forward, each application is different and will be considered on its own merit and any potential offer of service will reflect this.

It will be for branch managers to make an offer to you based on the following:

  • Previous rank/rate and seniority
  • Length of time out of service
  • Employment experience and any qualifications gained since leaving the Naval Service
  • Any training required to get you up to speed
  • You may apply to be considered for a different branch, however: this will depend on if you have achieved relevant qualifications, training or experience in the new spec since leaving the service.

Because each application is different, the time frame to get you back into the service can also vary. But we will always strive for the quickest time possible.

If you are in the Royal Navy Reserves, and want to join the regulars, contact our rejoiners team and let them know you're interested.

INTER-SERVICE TRANSFER - IF YOU SERVED IN THE ARMY OR ROYAL AIR FORCE, THERE ARE ALSO OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOU IN THE ROYAL NAVY.

You certainly wouldn't be the first to transfer across from another service. The Royal Navy will give you something different from that of our sister services. Whether at sea on a warship, Naval Air Squadron, or a Royal Marine Base, life is fast paced and exciting. Visiting many different countries around the globe, deployed on operations, or conducting humanitarian aid, every day is different.

You must meet all eligibility criteria; however, waivers may be appropriate in some cases. Training requirements will be determined on a case by case basis taking into account previous experience, rank, pay and service to date.

You are unlikely to undertake the 10 weeks of initial Naval Training, but you will attend HMS Raleigh in Cornwall for 3 days, to begin your journey.

On approval to re-enter, you will be given a clear offer of employment including details of your pay, engagement length and any required training for you to consider before committing to a return to the Naval Service.

Pick up the phone or email today and you could re-starting your Royal Navy career tomorrow.
